Job Title:
Environmental Technologies Compliance Specialist Job Description The Environmental Technologies Compliance Specialist supports the identification, qualification, and review of new products within the Environmental Technologies group in a hardware engineering environment. The role focuses on ensuring environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance, aligned with the goal of creating products that minimize impact on the Earth through climate-conscious design, resource efficiency, and safer chemistry. You will help qualify materials, ensure compliance with energy and repairability regulations during product launches, and contribute to sustainable product development practices. Responsibilities Identify materials that require environmental and regulatory review as part of the product development process. Manage material and product qualification workflows from initiation through completion, ensuring timely progress and clear documentation. Coordinate sample testing related to environmental, energy, and repairability regulations, including organizing test requests and tracking results. Review and interpret test results to support compliance decisions and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. Establish, document, and maintain best practices and standard operating procedures that support environmentally responsible product development. Collaborate closely with Product Environmental Engineers, Program Managers, Toxicologists, Lab Technicians, and Subject Matter Experts to advance sustainable materials and design-for-environment initiatives. Support efforts to phase out hazardous substances and promote smarter chemistry in hardware products. Ensure product launches comply with applicable energy efficiency and repairability regulations. Use productivity tools such as spreadsheets and presentation software to organize data, track activities, and present information clearly. Prepare and deliver presentations to executives and cross-functional partners to communicate status, risks, and recommendations. Engage in both independent and collaborative work, contributing to cross-functional projects and initiatives. Learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple activities and priorities simultaneously. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in a hardware product development environment. AS or BS degree in Engineering or Science preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities and priorities simultaneously. High attention to detail in documentation, tracking, and review of materials and processes. Demonstrated passion for environmental sustainability and user safety. Experience documenting processes and procedures in a clear and structured manner. Proficiency in productivity software such as spreadsheets and presentation tools (e.g., Keynote or similar). Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to executives. Ability to thrive in both collaborative and independent work environments. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, laboratory, and subject matter experts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing documentation. Experience supporting hardware development teams or hardware support functions. Exposure to or experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau. Understanding of the software development life cycle and how it intersects with hardware product development. Ability to develop and refine best practices and standard operating procedures for environmental compliance. Strong presentation skills with the confidence to communicate complex topics to executive audiences. Comfort working with confidential or pre-release products and information. Work Environment The role operates in a fast-paced hardware engineering environment where products under development are highly confidential and may not reach the market for an extended period. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, program managers, toxicologists, lab technicians, and subject matter experts, collaborating on sustainable materials and environmental compliance initiatives. The position requires rapid learning, adaptability, and comfort managing multiple concurrent tasks. You will regularly use productivity tools such as spreadsheets and presentation software, and may work with data visualization tools like Tableau to support analysis and reporting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72.34 - $72.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
