Job Description:
Environmental Manager Our client is seeking an Environmental Manager. The Environmental Manager will lead all environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability initiatives for the restart of a hydrometallurgical metals recovery plant, overseeing environmental aspects of approximately $85 million in capital projects. This role provides strategic technical leadership to ensure full regulatory compliance across air, water, and waste management while driving continuous improvement in environmental performance during facility reactivation.
Key Responsibilities:
Directs environmental permitting activities, including preparation and submission of permit applications and modifications. Leads facility compliance audits across air, water, and waste disciplines, ensuring timely identification and resolution of deficiencies. Oversees accident and non-compliance investigations, implements corrective actions, and manages regulatory reporting to appropriate agencies. Manages the Environmental Management System (EMS) and
ISO 14001
program, including steering committee leadership, aspects and impacts evaluation, and development of environmental management programs. Coordinates multimedia environmental sampling and analysis in accordance with permit requirements. Develops and maintains systems for tracking compliance records, corrective actions, and key sustainability metrics. Collaborates with production, maintenance, and engineering teams on process changes, waste minimization, and capital projects to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability objectives are met. Prepares and submits regulatory reports to state and federal agencies. Manages environmental project budgets and procurement activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Civil Engineering; Master's degree preferred but not required. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in environmental management within industrial operations, with strong expertise in air, water, and waste regulatory compliance. In-depth knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including RCRA, CERCLA, and OSHA standards. Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining
ISO 14001
Environmental Management Systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with environmental compliance data management. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills with proven ability to drive results across cross-functional teams.
