Job Description

What this position is about The Engineering Specialist is responsible for coordinating engineering projects to deliver safe, efficient, and cost effective engineering solutions in support of GSC Leaf US operations. This role oversees the planning, feasibility, design, and execution of capital projects, ensuring alignment with the approved CAPEX investment plan, PMO methodologies, and business priorities. The Engineering Specialist ensures the successful implementation, construction, assembly, and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and machinery, while maintaining strong financial discipline, technical standards, and compliance across all supported business areas. Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Support the planning and execution of investment projects in alignment with the approved financial plan, while helping maintain and optimize production assets within manufacturing areas, buildings, facilities, and the energy matrix. Prepare technical case studies and contribute to the analysis of investment forecasts. Support the delivery of ASP projects and commitments by tracking safety, quality, service, cost, and sustainability metrics, while actively identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement and innovation. Contribute to the development of the CAPEX investment plan for the specified areas by providing technical input aligned with the latest technologies and highest safety standards. Provide technical support for the execution of market‑related projects, applying best practices and ensuring efficient implementation timelines. Support and participate in the technical handover of new equipment and facilities to the respective operational areas. Support the technical team, overseeing technical/financial feasibility studies and the development of specifications, drawings, procedures, and resources necessary for project delivery. Support the implementation of projects, construction, assembly, and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and machinery—as well as cost management—in accordance with the CAPEX investment plan, and ensure the application of PMO methodologies for GSC Leaf US and supported business areas. Support the CAPEX plan for GSC Leaf.

Technical Standards and Legal Requirements Ensure compliance with engineering standards and technical documentation—across the mechanical, civil, hydraulic, electrical, and automation disciplines—by making them available to technical execution areas (Industrial Maintenance, Utilities, and Production Processes). To ensure that applicable legal requirements are met, through the analysis and development of corrective actions to address situations that are not in accordance with current legislation. Budgeting and Financial Control To ensure the preparation and control of the Engineering budget, aiming for the use of financial resources in the most cost-effective way possible. Develop monitoring mechanisms that promote and encourage analysis to determine actions designed to ensure adherence to the budget. Seek cost reductions through the optimization of available resources. Control the CAPEX for GSC Leaf US. Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance & IMS standards Work in conjunction with the EHS function to ensure Engineering staff and third parties have appropriate safety equipment, training, and awareness to perform duties safely and in compliance with local, state, federal, and company standards. Provide ongoing support to EHS initiatives, including assistance with regulatory compliance, inspections, and accurate reporting to internal and external authorities within required timelines. Ensure good housekeeping practices, including 5S and 3R standards, are consistently applied within areas of responsibility and when Engineering are working. Ensure all Engineering related activities are being carried out following all JTI and regulatory standards in terms of EHS. Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and support their development.
Integrated Management System:
perform activities according to existing standard procedures, documenting control items and checklists in accordance with the integrated management system. Support the development and revision of the standards in the Integrated Management System. Know the company's policies and procedures and ensure compliance with them. Sustainability Support and maintain monitoring systems for energy, gas, water, and other natural resource consumption, providing technical support for
ISO 50001
compliance and activities. Design, develop, and evaluate energy‑related projects and initiatives aimed at reducing energy costs and improving efficiency across all stages of a facility's lifecycle, including design, construction, renovation, and operation. Conduct site inspections and perform detailed energy audits and surveys. Apply and support best‑in‑class technical practices to improve operational efficiency and reduce natural resource consumption. Prepare monthly reports on natural resource consumption, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and record‑keeping. Other Perform any other business tasks assigned by the direct supervisor that are related to the area of ​​responsibility. Who we are looking for - Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience supporting the planning and execution of projects, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing process flows, project implementation, continuous improvement methodologies, and cost/financial impact analysis. Previous experience in the tobacco industry is considered an advantage. Fluency in English (Oral and written). Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Power BI, as well as practical experience with SAP ERP systems. Strong communication and negotiation skills combined with a hands-on, customer-focused, and results-driven approach.
