Battalion Chief - Fire (Internal Applicants Only)

Under general direction, the incumbent is responsible to supervise an assigned shift in the provisions of fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue and hazardous material, wildland fire control and other all hazard emergencies, fire prevention, apparatus and facilities maintenance department training, investigation activities, and act as an initial attack incident commander. Under the direction of the Fire Chief, plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages the staff operations and activities of an operations or administrative programs in the Fire Department; assists in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives; maintains and commands a state of readiness for response to emergency calls; manages the effective use of division resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service; provides complex and responsible support to the Fire Chief and others in area of expertise; and performs related duties, as assigned.
