FIRE MARSHAL - WINDHAM, CT POSITION OVERVIEW

This is highly responsible work involving planning, organizing, and administering a comprehensive fire inspection, investigation, and prevention program in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes.? This position will also enforce all applicable fire and life safety codes and laws, in accordance with Connecticut Fire Safety and Prevention Codes; and perform other duties such as fire prevention activities or any other duties that benefit and improve fire safety in the Town of Windham.? The position requires independent judgment, initiative, maturity, accuracy, observation, communication skills, and confidentiality based upon the evolving policies and priorities of the Town.? This is a full-time exempt position (38.5 hrs/wk - Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.); Salary Grade 9; Salary Range $84,857 to $102,673.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess an Associate's Degree in Fire Science or Technology; plus a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible fire suppression experience, including code enforcement experience; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position;? Connecticut Fire Marshal Certification, required; Local Open Burning Official Certification, preferred; must possess and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License; knowledge of Microsoft Office, required; and Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
