Deputy Chief of Training - Fire City of West Des Moines - 3.8 West Des Moines, IA Job Details Full-time $115,309 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree in emergency management Public Administration Fire Science Developing new training programs Bachelor's degree in public administration Bachelor's degree in education Training & development Senior level Emergency Management Senior leadership Educational program management Full Job Description Civil Service Status This is a Civil Service position Hours of Work Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Weekend and overtime work as required Tentative Start Date August/September 2026 Job Summary Under the general direction of the Fire/EMS Chief, directs the Training Division, identifies Fire department training needs related to fire and rescue, safety, and the Fire department's standard operating guidelines (S.O.G.'s); develops training programs; and provides training to department personnel, including full time Firefighters, part-time Firefighters, and Fire Officers. Exercises supervisory control over full time Firefighters, part-time Firefighters, and Fire Officers during all training sessions and emergency scene operations, as assigned. Assists the Fire Prevention division with the development and delivery of public education programs.
