Wildland Engine Boss Mackey Fire and Ice Eagle, ID Job Details Contract $950 - $1,050 a day 1 day ago Qualifications Incident command Forest fire management Incident management Cleaning Safety equipment Training Crew management Wildfire response Full Job Description Overview Engine Bosses needed for Boise, ID Dispatch Center and Eugene, OR Dispatch Center. We have (1) Type 4 Engine and (3) Type 6 Engines and will go out of Boise and Eugene dispatch centers. We want to take care of our crew and will pay top dollar for a quality Engine Boss.
Duties Leadership and Supervision:
Directs and supervises the engine and crew, ensuring they are prepared for and capable of handling firefighting duties, according to the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG).
Safety:
Prioritizes the safety of the engine and personnel, adhering to safety protocols and procedures, and ensuring they are equipped with necessary safety gear.
Engine Operations:
Ensures the engine is properly maintained, prepared for deployment, and operates effectively during fire suppression activities, including water supply, pump operation, and equipment handling.
Communication and Coordination:
Communicates effectively with supervisors and other firefighting resources, providing updates on fire conditions, crew progress, and any potential hazards.
Planning and Tactics:
Develops and implements plans for protecting structures and property, and works with other firefighting resources to implement effective fire suppression tactics, as described by the NWCG.
Resource Management:
Manages the engine's resources, including personnel, equipment, fuel, and water, ensuring they are available and used efficiently.
Demobilization:
Ensures the engine and crew are properly demobilized after an incident, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, and returning to their base station.
Training and Development:
Provides training and guidance to crew members, ensuring they are competent and prepared to perform their duties effectively. Qualifications Required Training
