Job Description

The City of Brooklyn Park Fire Department is seeking a Fire Captain to lead and support emergency response operations. Under the Battalion Chief, this position supervises firefighting, EMS, prevention, and public education while coordinating personnel, training, schedules, stations, and equipment. The department operates four stations with 24/7 staffing and responds to approximately 9,000 annual calls. Captains lead incident response, oversee training and discipline, manage inspections and documentation, and may serve as Incident Commander.
Minimum Qualifications:
3 years full-time firefighting experience EMT or Paramedic certification Fire Officer I and Instructor I certifications Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years leadership experience Advanced fire service certifications Associate degree in related field This is a full-time, union, benefited position with shift scheduling. Candidates must submit certifications and a resume. Salary is based on experience. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and commitment to safety, professionalism, and community service.
