Job Description
Required:
Associate degree in fire service or related field and ten (10) years combined experience in fire suppression and fire prevention, with a minimum of five (5) years in fire prevention; and three (3) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas Driver's License. Master Certification in Structure Fire Protection issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP). TCFP Fire Inspector I & II Certification. TCFP Plans Examiner I Certification. TCFP Fire Investigator Certification. Intermediate TCOLE Peace Officer Certification. TCOLE Chief Administrator Designation. Knowledge of modern firefighting, EMS, technical rescue and hazardous materials practices. Knowledge of management practices and department personnel administration policies. Knowledge of fire and safety codes, building construction, public education programs, and investigation techniques. Knowledge of methods, techniques and equipment used in modern firefighting. Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations including building codes and fire prevention codes. Knowledge of methods and techniques of public education pertinent to fire prevention and safety. Ability to read and interpret codes, regulations, technical reports, and building plans. Ability to prepare clear, concise records and reports. Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work on-call rotation and respond after hours to major incidents, as needed.Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in fire science or related field. Chief Fire Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC). Fire Marshal Designation from CPSE's CPC. Advanced or Master TCOLE CertificationSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Drug Screening:
Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this position, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy.Additional Criminal Background Screening Required:
