Job Description

The Town of Westlake, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth region of Texas, is seeking a Deputy Fire Chief / Fire Marshal to join our Fire Department. Core Competencies Leader of Character Demonstrates integrity, honesty, accountability, and ethical decision-making in all aspects of service. Upholds the values of the department and earns the trust of employees, Town leadership, and the community. Accepts responsibility for actions and maintains professionalism both on and off duty. Health & Fitness Maintains the physical, mental, and emotional fitness necessary to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the position. Demonstrates resilience and adaptability in high-stress and emergency situations. Promotes personal wellness and supports a culture of safety and well-being within the department. Professional Competence Possesses the knowledge, skills, judgment, and leadership abilities required to effectively manage fire prevention, code enforcement, fire investigations, emergency response operations, and public safety programs. Maintains proficiency in applicable fire codes, state and local regulations, fire service best practices, and industry standards. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and mentoring personnel at all levels of the organization. Provides strategic leadership that advances departmental goals, operational excellence, community risk reduction, and exceptional customer service. •

Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree TCFP Advanced Fire Inspector Certification TCFP Advanced Arson Investigator Certification Texas Basic Peace Officer certification through Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) TCFP Advanced Structural Firefighter preferred Texas DSHS Paramedic License Ten (10) years of Fire Protection Five (5) years at a Senior Management of Command level
