Comb fires and rescue personnel on ships and vessels. Perform duties as a Hazardous Merials Technician. Identify and classify unknown hazardous merials. Perform vessel and structural inspections. Inspect ammunition vessels for compliance with safety regulions. Drive and opere fire trucks, emergency response vehicles and hazm vehicles to site of fires, accidents and hazardous merial emergencies. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigion to determine your suitability for Federal employment. This position requires the completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examinion in accordance with DoD 6055.06M to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position has been designed Mission Essential. In the event of severe weher conditions or other such emergency type situions the incumbent is required to report to work or remain work as scheduled to support mission operions. In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designed as "Key" and shall not be vaced during a nional emergency or mobilizion as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organizion to function effectively. As a "Key" position, the incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operions during mobilizion. This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situions. Employee shifts are roted on a regularly scheduled basis; 48-hour roting shifts with a work schedule of 144 hours per pay period. Must possess and maintain all times, a noncommercial driver license or a commercial Class C and opere firefighting equipment, including a tiller operor, to have a firefighter endorsement "F". Firefighters with a Class A or B commercial driver license (CDL) are not required to add the "F" endorsement to continue opering firefighting equipment, as long as CDL includes all applicable endorsements for the vehicle they are opering. Employee is required to participe in a physical fitness program as described by DOD and NFPA standards. Position is designed inclement weher essential. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Incumbent must obtain and maintain United Stes Coast Guard Master's license covering the tonnage of Firebo within 18 months of appointment. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probionary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probionary the incumbent can be termined with limited appeal rights. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Qualificions Who May Apply:

One year of specialized experience which includes (1) controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) rescue operions; (3) detection, reduction, or eliminion of potential fire hazards; (4) operion of fire communicions equipment; (5) controlling hazardous merials incidents; and/or (6) developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Additional Qualificion Requirements:
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess: Firefighter 1 & 2 Certificion; Driver Operor Pumper Certificion; Hazm Technician Certificion; Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (Nional or Ste) Certificion. Firefighter certifices must be certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certificion System, Internional Fire Service Accredition Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualificions System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificion must be issued by Ste or Nional Registry (NREMT).
