Intent of the process This process is intended to fill anticipated vacancies of various tenures (indeterminate, temporary, full-time, and part-time) and will be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels, language requirements, and locations. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
(Must be met prior to employment)
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver's license
  • Will be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical checks
  • Basic first Aid Certificate and CPR certificate
  • Successful completion of Moderate Fitness Test as per the Parks Canada Standard Operating Procedure, "Fire Management Workplace Fitness Capacity Test.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
  • Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
  • Willingness to obtain certification in the operation of various forms of ground (e.

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in travelling or working in the field under various climatic conditions EX2: Experience participating in field research or active management projects EX3: Experience using a variety of data/sample collection equipment and means of transportation EX4: Experience contributing to the preparation of technical/scientific reports and manuscripts drafts, presentations, web site information, public presentation or displays EX5: Experience in fire management including prescribed fires and emergency wildfire operations
KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of fire management activities including fire suppression, prescribed fire and fuel management projects K2: Knowledge of and application of the Incident Command System (ICS) K3: Knowledge of wildland fire behaviour concepts and prediction, particularly as they relate to fireline safety
ABILITIES
A1: Ability to follow appropriate protocols for data/sample collection and compilation, and to conduct active resource management activity A2: Ability to conduct analysis of spatial and non-spatial data using various media and software A3: Ability to carry out data manipulation requirements as directed; A4: Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of scientific reports and to communicate with a variety of audiences using variety of techniques;A5: Ability to use a variety of computer applications in the development and maintenance of databases.
