Firefighter / EMT

Primary responsibilities include providing fire protection and emergency medical services to the community. Duties include operating firefighting apparatus and equipment, responding to fire and rescue incidents, participating in fire prevention programs, conducting public education initiatives and fire inspections, and assisting with station maintenance and ongoing training activities. This position requires a strong working knowledge of firefighting equipment, equipment maintenance, fire science principles, EMS practices, and department operations. Candidates must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, read and interpret technical manuals, communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public, and exercise sound independent judgment in dynamic situations. Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must also hold a valid driver's license and current EMT certification prior to the interview process. Firefighter I certification is preferred at the time of interview; however, candidates who do not currently possess the certification may still be considered, provided the certification is obtained within one year of employment.
