Job Description

The City of Hibbing Fire Department is seeking a dedicated and community-focused Firefighter/Paramedic/EMT to join our professional emergency response team. This position performs firefighting, emergency medical services, rescue operations, fire prevention, and public education duties while serving the residents and visitors of Hibbing with integrity and compassion. Candidates must possess current Minnesota Firefighter certification (or the ability to obtain it), National Registry or Minnesota Paramedic certification, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations as part of a team. High school diploma or equivalent. Current EMT certification/licensure is required at the time of hire. Paramedic certification/licensure through the Minnesota OEMS is preferred. Employees hired at the EMT level must successfully complete an accredited paramedic program in accordance with Minnesota OEMS requirements within two (2) years of hire and must obtain paramedic certification/licensure within one (1) year of program completion as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of the CPAT physical ability assessment is preferred at the time of hire and is required within the probationary period.
Must possess and maintain:
Class D Minnesota Driver's License with an acceptable driving record, CPR Certification, Firefighter I and II certification/licensure is preferred upon hire. Employees hired without current certification/licensure are required to obtain Minnesota Firefighter I and II certification/licensure within the probationary period as a condition of continued employment. Appropriate National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications for position. Appropriate American Heart Association (AHA) certifications. Hazardous Materials Technician Level Certification within one year of hire. This is a benefit eligible position with opportunities for advancement within the organization.
