• Temporary Overview Join our dynamic wildfire response team as a Wildland Firefighter-FFT1, where you will play a vital role in protecting communities, natural resources, and landscapes from the threat of wildfires.

This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to develop essential firefighting skills, gain hands-on experience in fire suppression and emergency medical response, and contribute to the safety and resilience of our environment. As a dedicated team member, you will be at the forefront of wildfire management, working in diverse outdoor conditions and supporting firefighting operations with energy and enthusiasm. Duties Respond promptly to wildfire incidents, assisting with fire suppression activities such as creating firebreaks, clearing brush, and deploying hoses. Support incident command teams by setting up equipment, establishing safety zones, and assisting with logistical tasks. Provide basic emergency medical assistance, including first aid, CPR, and vital signs monitoring, to injured personnel or civilians. Operate mechanical tools such as chainsaws and hand tools safely and efficiently to support fireline construction. Conduct patrols of assigned areas to identify potential fire hazards and monitor fire behavior. Assist with transportation duties, including driving crew transport vehicles under supervision and ensuring safe handling of equipment. Perform heavy lifting tasks involving equipment, supplies, or debris to facilitate firefighting efforts while adhering to safety protocols. Requirements Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, prolonged standing, walking over rugged terrain, and operating mechanical tools. Strong understanding of safety procedures related to wildfire suppression and emergency response. Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions for extended periods. Good communication skills for teamwork and coordination during firefighting operations.
