Job Description

The Town of Gilbert Police Department is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Police Records Supervisor to join our Records Team! In this role, you will work alongside fellow supervisors to collectively oversee the day-to-day operations of records processing, ensuring police records are handled accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Success in this position means contributing to a collaborative leadership environment where teamwork among supervisors is just as important as the work you do with your individual team members. This is a limited-term agreement position that may be eligible for renewal based on need and performance in the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Records staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, scheduling work shifts, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring staff are properly trained Review team members' work for quality control and ensure timely, accurate processing of public records requests Perform redaction of sensitive or court-ordered police records in accordance with the Federal Freedom of Information Act and applicable state and local laws Manage the Records Management System (RMS) and provide technical assistance to officers to ensure accuracy of submitted work Support the Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) by overseeing monthly validation of stolen and wanted records and ensuring all staff maintain valid Terminal Operator Certificates View the full job description

You're comfortable working as part of a supervisory team, coordinating with peers to achieve shared goals and maintain consistent standards across shifts. To be considered, you will need: An Associate's degree , or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work At least three years of experience handling and processing law enforcement records Excellent verbal and written communication skills The ability to obtain and maintain a Level A Terminal Operator Certification Completion of the Records Specialist II training program within six months of hire or appointment Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable. This is a limited-term agreement position that may be eligible for renewal based on need and performance in the role.
Special Requirement:
Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information handled, successful completion of an extensive Police Department Background Investigation is required.
AT-WILL/FLSA STATUS
This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation. The position works primarily in a shared open office environment, with artificial light, varying noise levels, scents, and regular contact with others, both in-person and via technology such as video conference, e-mail, and phone. This role involves extensive computer usage throughout the workday, including work within records management systems, scheduling software, and internet-based records request platforms, and requires the ability to remain focused and accurate during prolonged periods at a workstation.
