Court Commissioner

The Superior Court in Mohave County is accepting applications to establish a 12-month hiring register for Court Commissioner positions. The registry may be used for any openings in the next 12 months. Anyone interested in applying for a commissioner position any time in the next 12 months should apply now. The selected Commissioner serves at the pleasure of the Presiding Judge and is subject to assignment in various case types including but not limited to family law, juvenile delinquency and dependency, probate, guardianship, and protective orders . It is anticipated the commissioner will work in Lake Havasu City but could be assigned to other locations. Salary for the position will be established by the Presiding Judge but shall not exceed 90% percent of the salary of a Superior Court Judge. The entry-level salary is expected to be at least $160,000 equivalent to 80% of the salary of a Superior Court Judge.

Commissioners are required to file an annual financial disclosure statement. Additionally, the Court Commissioner will be enrolled in either the Arizona Elected Officials Defined Contribution Plan (EODC) or the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Special Judicial Officer Application Must be a United States Citizen, a duly licensed member of the State Bar of Arizona and shall have engaged in the active general practice of law and been a resident of the State of Arizona, for a period of not less than five years immediately preceding his or her appointment. The Arizona Constitution, Article VI, §22 requires that judicial nominees must be at least 30 years of age, of good moral character, and admitted to the practice of law in and a resident of the State for five years immediately preceding appointment.
