Municipal Court Judge, Part Time City of Corpus Christi - 3.5 Corpus Christi, TX Job Details Part-time $44.25 - $49.56 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Driver's License Bar Full Job Description Overview Magistrate individuals by reviewing the arrest report for probable cause, set bail, bond conditions and emergency protective orders. Input the magistration information into the Public Safety Report System. Review, sign all warrants and conduct juvenile readings. Hours of work are all City holidays, weekend days and nights, and weekday after normal work hours. Other times as needed and requested to fill in for magistration, including weekday overnight shifts. Magistration may be remote or in person as needed. Responsibilities
  • Magistrate individuals by deciding probable cause for the arrest, set a bail amount, bond conditions, enter emergency protective orders and review criminal history
  • Enter magistration information into the Public Safety Report System (PSRS)
  • Review and sign search warrants, blood warrants, arrest warrants, and emergency detention warrants if appropriate
  • Attend meetings to discuss processes, procedures and updates on the law
  • Attend all hours needed in accordance with the Rules of Judicial Education
  • Read and know the codes applicable for magistration duties and research legal issues necessary to perform magistrate duties
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
  • Non-Exempt - Part-Time Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
  • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

  • Jurisprudence (JD)
  • Two (2) years of practicing law in Nueces County prior to appointment Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Licensed Attorney in good standing in the State of Texas
  • Qualified voter
  • C itizen of the United States
  • Resident of the State of Texas
  • A valid driver's license is required Required Prior to Performing Magistration duties
  • Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (TLETS) training Required within ninety (90) days from taking office
  • Eight (8) hours of Magistration training Required within six (6) months of hire
  • Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) training Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:
