$72,000-$74,000 Pay Range Information Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage. Job Description Summary Reporting to the Law School Registrar, this position provides key support to the Registrar in the areas of registration, records, and enrollment management, course evaluations, textbook adoptions, degree audit, examinations, legal compliance issues, awarding of degrees and graduation ceremony. Responsibilities
KEY REGISTRAR SUPPORT FUNCTIONS
Interpret policies and procedures and advise students and faculty members on registration processes and degree and graduation requirements and ensure consistent application. Participate in the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures pertaining to student records. Assist with the maintenance of class schedules, registration matters, and update course offerings in accordance with policies and procedures. Assist with processing and recording student grades and processing of grade changes. Assist with monitoring student academic standing, probation and suspension. Respond daily to questions by students, faculty and staff. Research and troubleshoot student degree audit and registration problems. Manage the law emphasis programs for participating students for purposes of registration, record keeping, degree audit and graduation. Serve as a main liaison between the Law Registrar's Office and Emphasis program directors to ensure all requirements are met for graduation and provide updates on any changes to policies. Participate in the examination administration process. Prepare the scheduling of proctors with room reservations. Required to be present for law mid-term and final exams. Serve as the secondary supervisor for the student staff in the Law Registrar's Office. Help with hiring and training student staff members.
KEY DATA SUPPORT FUNCTIONS
Responsible for maintaining and updating the degree audit system for the law school and all its students. Work with the student records systems and ensure the confidentiality, security, and integrity of academic records. Set up the Law School online registration process. Participate in the compilation, recording, verification and dissemination of all data related to student enrollment, curriculum, academic progress, grades. Provide student data for survey and accreditation reporting requirements. Evaluate student data and provide recommendations to registrar and other law administrators on ways to improve and streamline processes. Maintain accurate student files.
OTHER SUPPORT FUNCTIONS
Manage the textbook ordering process with the bookstore and serve as a main liaison between the bookstore and the law faculty. Oversee the administration and processing of faculty and course evaluations every semester and coordinate with Information Systems & Technology. Participate in the planning and implementation of commencement activities. Must attend the Law School Graduation Ceremony. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years of administrative experience in higher education or a registrar's or related office, preferably at a law school. Working knowledge of record maintenance, registration and graduation requirements, and degree conferral process. Proven ability to research and resolve student inquiries and disputes relating to records and registration. Understanding of financial aid requirements and processes. Experience in evaluating and interpreting policies and procedures. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to interact and communicate with diverse constituents. Computer skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet and electronic mail software, preferably of Microsoft Office Suite applications. Technical skills to learn and use the law school's administrative systems. Proven ability to use tact, diplomacy, and good judgment, and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Working knowledge of FERPA. Ability to follow Law School and University policies and procedures and assist student workers in also following all applicable policies and procedures. Ability to take direction and implement a plan of action. Commitment to customer service and teamwork. Desired Qualifications Knowledge and understanding of law school academic and graduation requirements. Experience in using PeopleSoft administrative system.
