Job Description

Position OverviewWe are looking for a motivated Construction Attorney with at least 2+ years of experience in construction law to handle a wide range of construction-related matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to grow their career within a collaborative, entrepreneurial law firm environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, sureties, and insurers in construction disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.

Handle contract drafting, review, and negotiation (e.g., AIA contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements).Manage mechanics lien claims, payment disputes, delay claims, defective work claims, and change order disputes.

Advise clients on risk management, insurance coverage issues related to construction projects, and compliance with New York Labor Law.

Conduct discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.

Collaborate with the firm's insurance coverage and general litigation teams on construction defect, bodily injury, and property damage matters.

Provide proactive legal counsel to help clients avoid disputes and manage construction projects effectively.

QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar (admission in additional jurisdictions such as NJ, CT, or PA is a plus).Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in construction law (experience with New York construction litigation strongly preferred).Well-versed in construction contracts, lien law, insurance issues in construction, and New York-specific construction statutes.

Strong litigation skills and comfort with courtroom appearances.

Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

Ability to manage multiple matters and work independently while contributing to a team environment.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
