Immigration Attorney (In-Person) - Ames, IA Remote applicants will not be considered.

Ames, Iowa About the Role Our immigration law firm is seeking a highly capable attorney with 3+ years of full-time, hands-on experience in immigration law or closely related litigation (criminal, federal appeals or federal district court). This role is best suited for attorneys who take ownership of their work, move cases efficiently, and are committed to long-term growth with the firm, including a potential partnership/ownership track . What You'll Handle (Must Have Experience in at Least One) Employment-based immigration (domestic & consular processing) Family-based immigration (domestic & consular processing) Humanitarian cases (VAWA, U, T visas) Immigration court, SIJS, or guardianships Immigration appeals or federal court litigation FOIA, naturalization, and complex case maintenance Core Expectations Manage a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision Communicate proactively and clearly with clients Produce accurate, well-supported filings and persuasive legal arguments Appear before immigration agencies and courts with confidence Maintain strong organization, deadlines, and case strategy Contribute to a team environment—reliable, responsive, and accountable Required Qualifications Active U.S. law license Minimum 3+ years of relevant, full-time legal experience Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently Strong legal writing and analytical skills Bilingual preferred (not required) Who Will Thrive Here Attorneys who underpromise and overdeliver Professionals who are detail-oriented, efficient, and responsive Individuals who take initiative and do not wait to be told what to do Team players who are willing to support others and take on varied tasks Attorneys who want to build expertise and grow with a firm long-term Work Environment In-person, collaborative office with an open-door culture Focused workdays (limited distractions) to support efficiency and work-life balance Continuing legal education and skill development Stocked kitchen, team celebrations, and a collegial atmosphere Pet-friendly (well-behaved dogs welcome) Location This is an in-person position in Ames, Iowa , near the Des Moines metro. It is within driving distance of Minneapolis, Omaha, Kansas City, and Chicago.
