Job Description

Position Overview The Law Office of Richard Klein is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented law school student for a Law Clerk position focusing on personal injury law. If you are looking for hands-on, real-world experience in how car accident cases actually move from initial injury to final resolution, this role is built for you. You won't just be stuck in a library doing abstract research. You will work directly with our attorneys to manage client contact and drive the settlement process. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the mechanics of personal injury litigation, negotiation, and case management from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities The Settlement Process:
Assist attorneys in securing, organizing, and reviewing medical records, bills, and insurance information. Help facilitate the settlement pipeline by obtaining payout offers and negotiating medical lien/provider reductions.
Client Contact & Management:
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients. Provide regular, empathetic updates on case status, guide them through their treatment tracking, and ensure they feel supported.
Communication Hub:
Answer and route incoming calls from clients, insurance adjusters, and medical providers with professionalism and efficiency.
Attorney Support:
Work directly alongside handling attorneys to draft basic legal documents, correspondence, and demand packages.
Case Tracking:
Maintain and update the firm's case management system to ensure all client data, deadlines, and communication logs are perfectly accurate.
Qualifications Education:
Current law student (1L, 2L, or 3L) with a genuine interest in personal injury, tort law, or civil litigation.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills. You must be comfortable talking on the phone and interacting with clients who may be going through a stressful time.
Organization:
High attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Tech-Savvy:
Proficiency with standard office software (MS Office, Google Workspace); familiarity with legal case management software is a plus.
Reliability:
A strong work ethic and a desire to learn the practical, day-to-day business of running a law practice.
What You Will Gain Practical Insights:
A deep, inside look at how car accident cases work, from the initial crash to the final settlement check.
Mentorship:
Direct access to and mentorship from experienced personal injury attorneys.
Flexibility:
We understand the demands of law school and will work with you to create a weekly schedule that respects your classes and exam periods.
Pay:
$24.30 - $29.26 per hour
Work Location:
In person
