Job Description

Employee Benefits Associate (Junior or Mid-Level) Our busy and growing firm seeks to hire an associate who is detail-oriented, communicative, and interested in building an employee benefits practice in a friendly environment. 2-5 years of practicing law and experience with ERISA are both preferred, but neither is required. Employee benefits law is a dynamic practice area, and this position involves transactional, counseling, and compliance work for health and retirement plans, as well as occasional litigation support. For example, associates assist with negotiating investment transactions and various types of contracts, drafting government filings and employee communications, and advising on emerging legal issues—such as mental health parity requirements for health plans. While ERISA and tax law are cornerstones of employee benefits law, they overlap with a variety of other areas, including labor, health, data privacy, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and administrative law. Associates can develop and follow their own interests within the firm's practice areas. MMPL prizes work-life balance and sets its billable hour goal accordingly, with bonuses available for attorneys who choose to bill more. MMPL also provides a robust benefits package that includes automatic employer contribution to the firm's 401(k) plan (currently 5% of salary), health insurance, health savings account contributions, disability and life insurance, fitness facility, transit benefits, and paid sick, vacation, and parental leave. The firm accommodates partially remote and flexible schedules. If you think you would be a good fit for our team, please submit a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and law school transcript to hiring@MMPL-law.com .
