Description:
Intermountain Immigration | Lehi, Utah (On-Site)
Start Date:
Upon graduation or after bar exam
Schedule:
Monday•Friday, 8:30 AM•5:00
PM Benefits:
Available after 90 days (PTO, health, dental, vision, 401k) About Intermountain Immigration Intermountain Immigration is a leading immigration law firm focused on serving the Spanish-speaking community. Our purpose is to bring hope and opportunity to immigrants and their families. The majority of our work centers on asylum and removal defense cases, helping individuals and families navigate some of the most difficult and uncertain moments of their lives. We also support family-based immigration, helping people stay together and build stability for the future. This is not transactional work. The way cases are prepared, the way clients are guided, and the way we show up every day directly impacts real outcomes for the people we serve.
About This Role:
A Pathway to Becoming an Attorney This role is designed for individuals who recently finished their Juris Doctor degree who want to build real experience while awaiting results of a bar exam, and transition directly into an attorney position within the firm. You will begin working as a Paralegal or Senior Paralegal while preparing for or awaiting bar admission. During this time, you will learn our systems, case strategy, and workflows while gaining hands-on experience in removal defense, asylum, and family-based cases. Once you pass the bar exam and are admitted to a state bar, you will transition into an Immigration Attorney role within the firm, taking on your own caseload and client representation responsibilities. This is not a temporary role—it is a structured pathway into a long-term attorney position. Why This Role Exists The transition from law school to practicing law is often disconnected from the reality of day-to-day legal work. New attorneys are expected to manage cases, communicate with clients, and make strategic decisions—often without having seen how a case is built from the ground up. We created this role to bridge that gap. By starting in a paralegal capacity, you will learn how cases are actually developed—from intake to filing to court preparation—so that when you step into an attorney role, you are prepared, confident, and effective. What You Will Do (Pre-Bar / Paralegal Phase) You will support attorneys and clients in building strong, well-prepared cases. Client Interaction & Case Development Conduct client intakes and gather detailed immigration histories Maintain communication with clients and help guide them through the process Ensure clients understand requirements and next steps Case Preparation & Filings Assist in preparing applications, motions, and supporting documentation Help prepare filings for asylum, removal defense, and family-based cases Support preparation for Master Calendar Hearings and other key deadlines Organization & Case Management Maintain organized case files and track deadlines Work within case management systems and internal workflows Identify missing information or risks early in the process
Legal Support:
Assist with legal research and drafting under attorney supervision Collaborate with attorneys and team members to move cases forward efficiently What You Will Do (Post-Bar / Attorney Phase) Once licensed, you will transition into an Immigration Attorney role. Conduct client consultations in English and Spanish Manage a caseload including removal defense, asylum, family-based petitions, and naturalization Prepare and review filings and legal strategy Represent clients in immigration court and USCIS interviews Draft legal documents including motions, briefs, and affidavits Communicate clearly and consistently with clients throughout their cases
What It Takes:
JD from an accredited law school Planning to sit for or recently completed a U.S. bar exam Fully bilingual in Spanish and English Strong organization and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills and client presence Willingness to take ownership and learn quickly Preferred Background Prior experience in immigration law (internships, clinics, or work experience) Experience in client-facing roles or legal support positions Familiarity with case management systems or legal workflows Similar Jobs Commercial Litigation / Labor & Employment Atto...
