A training position involving attendance at a recognized law enforcement academy for the express purpose of becoming an Alachua County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sheriff. This position requires commitment, diligence, and initiative. Work is performed under the supervision of the Training Bureau Sergeants and the Judicial Services and Training Division Commander. Performance is evaluated through observation and grades obtained. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High School / GED Required Associate's Degree Preferred Bachelor's Degree Preferred Preferred Major(s): Criminal Justice, Psychology, or other related field

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSING

Current, valid Florida driver's license

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be 21 years of age Must be a citizen of the United States Must meet or exceed all applicable physical agility standards required by ACSO Must pass any required physical testing mandated by ACSO and/or FCJSTC Be of good moral character, have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral character, perjury or false statements Must have one of the following: a two (2) year degree a total of two (2) years combined experiences in education, military service or certified corrections two (2) years post high school full time continuous employment with a single employer (self-employment or contract work does not satisfy this requirement) Must qualify with one of the following residency requirements: Reside within the boundaries of Alachua County Reside in one of the counties that are contiguous to Alachua County providing their residence is no further than twenty (20) minutes from the Alachua County line or one (1) hour from the main building Must be willing to enter into a pre-employment agreement regarding length of ACSO employment Must pass the current ACSO pre-employment background testing and background process Must meet the ACSO Deputy Sheriff residency requirement at the time of employment as a full-time ACSO Deputy Must meet Santa Fe College in-state tuition requirements
