The Tama Police Department is a 6 full time officer department with reserve, and part time officers. The city offers a free family, or individual healthcare plan, IPERS, and many other benefits. All applicants must pass a background investigation prior to testing, and an interview. Non-certified applicants must pass the POST and ILEA physical agility test prior to receiving an interview. ILEA certified officers will not be required to take the POST or physical agility tests. Transfer of POST and MMPI scores will be accepted if completed within the last year.
