This vacancy will be filled by promotion of a current permanent classified employee of The Port of New Orleans Port Commission. The incumbent may be required to start a new probation appointment or may be required to serve a trial Detail prior to being permanently promoted. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Job Duties:
Lead and supervise marine law enforcement operations , directing Police Officers I-III, overseeing patrol activities, managing staffing and performance, and assuming command responsibilities during the absence of the Watch Commander. Conduct maritime security, rescue, and emergency response operations , including boat patrols, critical infrastructure protection, search and recovery efforts, firefighting support, and coordination with maritime agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard. Manage critical incidents and administrative functions , including major incident response, personnel investigations, report review and approval, dispatch oversight, equipment inspections, and enforcement of Port, local, state, and federal regulations.
