Job Description

High Point University is seeking a Police Lieutenant, Events Manager. Under the direction of the Chief of Campus Police, the Events Manager will be in a sworn position and will hold the rank of Lieutenant. The Police Lieutenant, Events Manager provides support services across all divisions within the agency by preparing Incident Action Plans (IAP) for special events as needed. This includes coordination with event producers from the University and any outside agencies that request assistance. This position will serve as one of our Watch Commanders providing supervisory guidance and oversight during evening hours. The Police Lieutenant/ Events Manager will directly supervise the Events Coordinator and indirectly oversee Events Team personnel daily. They will also directly supervise the Traffic Officer Supervisor and indirectly oversee the Traffic Officers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, develops, distributes all special events plans in conjunction with the University Special Events staff Prepares written IAP's as needed to ensure all aspects of the event are carefully planned easily executed Coordinates with all principal parties which may include resources from the High Point Police Department or other law enforcement agencies as deemed necessary Ensure logistical operational needs are addressed Ensures that proper staffing is available for all special events Flexibility to work designated assigned events as the Event Commander Directly supervise the Events Team Coordinator and indirectly oversee the Events Team to ensure all daily assignments are accomplished and appropriate strategies are in place for future events. Serve as one of the nighttime Watch Commanders providing supervisory guidance and oversight to on duty personnel Serve as a Watch Commander when needed. Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Campus Police or their designee The Police Lieutenant/Events Manager must maintain NC police certification by completing all in-service training including firearms qualifications. This position requires the wearing of the HPU campus police uniform.
