POSITION
 Police Academy Supervisor/Instructor (Police Sergeant)
LOCATION
Must live within commuting distance of academy locations in Devils Lake, Grand Forks, or West Fargo.
WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED
 Any person with at least 5 years' law enforcement experience who is eligible and qualified to hold a sworn law enforcement position in the State of ND. There is no sponsorship for this position.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT
 This is a part-time, 26-week, benefited position.
BACKGROUND CHECK
 LRSC requires a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to beginning employment.
JOB SUMMARY
 Responsibilities include academy supervision, teaching (Criminal Law, Crimes Scene Investigations, Use of Force, Weapons Law and other related topics), scheduling, advising, student recruitment, records management, background investigations, and curriculum development. In addition, this person will be a sworn officer with the Lake Region State College Police Department and will be responsible as a first responder to campus crimes in progress. Additional duties include employee safety training, assistance with internal investigations, and crime reporting. Extensive travel to academy locations with week-long overnight stays are necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess a minimum of five years of law enforcement experience with excellent written and verbal communications skills. Applicants must be licensed or licensable as a Peace Officer in the State of North Dakota, be an ND POST approved law enforcement instructor, must be CJIS eligible, and must obtain instructor certification from North Dakota State Board for Career and Technical Education within two years. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
SALARY:
 Competitive salary based on education and experience.
