PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Monitor police radio transmission for ECISD Police Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
TEA certification requirements High School Graduate or GED General knowledge of radio communications skills preferred Clerical skills preferred Ability to type 30 wpm (Inter office Computer System) Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Certified Tele-communicator Operator preferred Speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with other persons over the telephone, radio and in person Maintain various records and reports in the Police department Answer telephone with clear, courteous and business voice and direct the call to the appropriate destination Exhibit rapid mental decision making dealing with emergency calls for police service Clear Speech
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Monitoring Police radio transmissions for all police officers at different ECISD campus patrol units, campus security and K-9 Handlers. Log all incoming radio transmissions. Dispatch units, (Patrol, K-9, Campus Police/Security) as needed as well as Edinburg Police or Sheriff's Office, or any Law Enforcement Agency as needed. Responsible for answering the Police telephone main line, hot line and fax line and logging incoming calls. Review and input into computer day patrol, night patrol and campus incident reports. Must familiarize themselves with departmental rules and regulations and must carry out directives. Maintains a close working relationship with staff and local law enforcement. Must carry out office functions as directed by the Chief of Police and other assignments as needed. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The individual works indoors in a well-lighted air conditioned office.
