- Full-time Job Description The University of Washington Police Department, a unit in the Division for Campus Community Safety has an outstanding opportunity for a Deputy Chief for Police Administration to join their team.

Bachelor's degree Minimum ten (10) years' experience in progressively responsible law enforcement work, including considerable experience in a supervisor capacity in supervision and administration. Must be a State of Washington commissioned officer or able to obtain commission status within 12 months of employment. Must show a demonstrated interest in self-improvement by taking advantage of educational opportunities in new laws and innovations in law enforcement. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures of modern police science and administration. Must possess a thorough knowledge of all applicable local, state and federal laws. Must possess demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, assign and supervise the work of a large number of subordinates engaged in a variety of police and related activities Demonstrated ability to adapt to change with ease and readily identify creative alternative solutions. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public, city officials, governmental authorities and employees. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals both written and verbally. Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Master's degree desired Graduate of the FBI National Academy or similar type executive training program Experience in university policing Knowledge of Clery and Title IX Working Conditions Working inside, expected to perform the following or it is a critical part of the position: Standing, sitting, walking, hand dexterity (keyboarding/repetitive movements), reading, hearing, talking, seeing, using the telephone, contact with general public, working alone. Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds. Conditions of Employment Employment is contingent upon successful completion of comprehensive background investigation. All candidates will complete a thorough background investigation, including Polygraph Examination, Psychological Evaluation, Fingerprinting, Drug Screen and Medical Examination. No felony convictions and no pattern of misdemeanor convictions that could compromise access to confidential records. About the Team The Division of Campus Community Safety (DCCS) unifies front-line public safety units across the University for a holistic approach to campus community safety, innovation in approaches, and clarity in leadership responsibility and accountability. Key units include UW Emergency Management, SafeCampus, Husky Assist and the Seattle campus UW Police Department. Division staff work daily in partnership with units across and outside the UW system to both create safer, welcoming campus environments; prepare for potential natural or human-made disasters; and respond appropriately to incidents. The UWPD is a leader in its collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in fostering an environment of public safety. This position requires involvement with various individuals, establishing and employing effective communication methods within and external to the department, and ensuring that the UWPD is managed in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations. The incumbent provides vision, strategic leadership, planning, coordination and management of all resources of law enforcement operations. The areas of control of this position support the overall safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors of the University of Washington.Compensation, Benefits and Position Details Pay Range Minimum:
