Job Description

Overview Police Officer Trainees are hired to begin the process of becoming sworn law enforcement officers. Trainees may assist with department functions, complete required training, and prepare for academy attendance and certification. Upon successful completion of required training and certification, the trainee may transition into full police officer duties. Duties This position is intended for applicants working toward certification as law enforcement officers in Alabama. Under department supervision, trainees may assist with department operations, observe and participate in field activities as allowed, complete required training, and prepare for academy attendance and certification. After successful completion of required training and certification, the trainee may transition into full police officer duties. Experience High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from a two-year college with course work in political science, criminology, criminal justice or related field preferred; must meet APOST requirements for certification pursuant to Alabama law; successful completion of the police academy within 6 months of hire. Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
