Position Summary:

Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of the Sergeant. Responsible for enforcement of traffic control, criminal laws, and parking regulations. This position is governed by the Law Enforcement Standards of Arkansas and UAMS Policies.

Requirements:

High School Diploma / GED required. Be certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer or become certified within one (1) year of employment. (Possibility of a one-year extension). Be at least 21 years of age. Current and valid Arkansas driver's license. Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population. Engages in and maintains control of situations/persons through use of minimal force needed in required situations. Able to pass a medical physical examination. Able to pass a psychological examination. Ability to walk 8 to 12 miles in an 8-to-12-hour shift. Ability to climb stairwells.

Preferred Requirements:

Associates degree or higher. Basic knowledge of computers. General knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
