DESCRIPTION
The Traffic Section is currently accepting applications with resumes from officers for the position of DUI Enforcement Officer (car position) . The purpose of this specialty opening is to establish a list for current vacancies. Eligible officers must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a sworn officer and must be off probation. This assignment plays a critical role in advancing the department's traffic safety mission. Core responsibilities include DUI enforcement, speed and traffic enforcement, support during special events, assisting with accident investigations, and community traffic education. Officers selected for this role are expected to demonstrate strong investigative and writing abilities, a high level of self-motivation, and a commitment to exceptional customer service and teamwork. This position operates on a 4-10 schedule, Wednesday through Saturday from 1800-0400. Flexibility is required to accommodate occasional special enforcement details. Overtime is authorized as needed. The position may be subject to call-out status and includes an assigned take-home vehicle. Work hours may be adjusted to meet operational needs. There is a 5% specialty pay associated with this position. Specialty assignment applications, résumés, and past performance evaluations will be reviewed. An oral board interview will be conducted, please plan accordingly. An eligibility list will be established and will be effective for one year. If any portion of the testing process occurs outside the employee's normal work hours, employees may coordinate with their immediate supervisors to flex time to attend their interview. Overtime or compensatory time must be preapproved and will only be authorized under exceptional circumstances.
