Physical DemandsAbility to lift up to 25 pounds is required. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking; reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily office activities. The position also requires the ability to get from one location to another in the course of doing business; grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in retrieving and entering data using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading work related documents and using the computer, and the ability to distinguish colors and acute hearing when providing phone and personal service; drive motorized vehicles; and operate a variety of law enforcement equipment.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a standard office setting and outside in sometimes tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving circumstances. Employee may travel to different locations and may be exposed to inclement weather conditions, noise, vibration, dust, or potentially hazardous chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is usually high and the employee may be exposed to loud talking and frequent interruptions from telephones, City staff, and/or members of the public.

•Under administrative direction, perform a wide variety of civilian field and office law enforcement work in direct support of sworn personnel, including taking police reports and conduction traffic investigations within defined parameters.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Supervision is provided by Chief of Police or designee.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to, the following: (These functions may not be present in all positions in this classification. Serve as a field or desk officer; take phone or in-person reports of criminal incidents; process requests for police reports and public information; track and serve subpoenas; collect and log found property, strip and pat search prisoners; observe and handle specimen eliminations; fingerprint arrestees, applicants for various licenses, and vehicle registration, and warrants on wanted persons; operate teletype machine to enter, modify and retrieve data regarding stolen and recovered property, driver's licenses and vehicle registration, and warrants on wanted persons; receive and process abandoned vehicle notices, maintaining control of status of reported vehicles; coordinate the removal of vehicles and notification to registered owners; monitor and enforce City ordinances of a non-criminal nature; 'investigate auto accidents of a non-criminal nature; document the accident scene; take statements from those involved and maintain appropriate paper work; serve criminal subpoenas; log information into a book, stamp with date and time; return proof of service; respond to complaints from the public; investigate potential violations and alleged nuisances; issue citations to persons refusing to comply with various ordinances; serve as parking enforcement officer; patrol City streets and enforce laws and regulations applicable to non-moving vehicles; write citations for overtime parking and illegal parking; assist in identifying and removing abandoned vehicles; assist in directing traffic; perform a variety of routine follow-up investigative work not requiring sworn personnel; investigate missing person reports; conduct interviews; take statements and gather evidence; make court appearances as required related to assigned activities; conduct routine statistical analyses related to criminal activities; monitor and transfer police vehicles to the garage for service and maintenance; maintain assigned vehicle; maintain appropriate fluid levels including fuel, water and oil; perform a variety of general clerical and secretarial duties as required including data entry of investigative reports and perform related duties and responsibilities as required. SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants must complete an application online prior to the final filing date. Applications will be screened for qualifications, appropriate background, and only the most qualified will be invited to participate in the examination process. Successful candidates must achieve a minimum passing score in each of the test components.
