It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 41.7 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. The current estimated population is 126,414, yet Simi Valley maintains a unique balance of open space and City amenities. Salary range: $22.73 - $29.03 with Excellent Benefits 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/13/26 3% Cost of Living Adjustment increase effective 7/13/27 Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range. Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience. Regular, Full-Time position Schedule consists of 4 10-hour days, typically working Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. May require occasional work on weekends, evenings, and holidays.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in criminal justice, police forensics, or a related field.Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and abilities: Strong customer service and communication skills, Ability to stay professional and calm in routine and high‑stress situations. Attention to detail when writing reports, issuing citations, and documenting information. Good judgment and awareness when responding to collisions, emergencies, and calls for service. Ability to learn and use law enforcement systems such as records management, CAD, and Live Scan. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Integrity and discretion when working with confidential or sensitive information. Ability to collaborate with sworn officers, professional staff, and outside agencies.
