Job Description

The City of South Lake Tahoe Police Department is seeking a seasonal Bicycle Officer to support increased summer public safety operations throughout the community. This position is a fully sworn peace officer role assigned to bicycle patrol during the summer season, with responsibility for proactive law enforcement, high-visibility patrol, community engagement, traffic and pedestrian safety, ordinance enforcement, and rapid response in areas with heavy seasonal activity. The ideal candidate is an experienced law enforcement professional who can work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain positive public contact while patrolling bike paths and high-traffic locations.
Requirements:
Possession of California POST Basic Certificate (attach to application)
CA POST 40
hour Basic Traffic Investigation completion (attach to application) CA POST Continuing Professional Training (CPT) up to date Must be currently employed as a CA Peace Officer as defined in PC 830.1 or
PC 830.2
Prior experience working as a law enforcement officer on a bicycle Knowledge and experience enforcing applicable laws pertaining to e-bikes, e-scooters, bicycles, and scooters on both roadways and bike paths. Knowledge of laws pertaining to different types of paths and bike lanes (Class I, Class II, Class III and Class IV)
