Requirements:

Successful completion of the Police Academy is required. An

A.A./A.S.

degree is desirable. Military service and relevant training may also be considered. Some public contact work experience is required. Community organization or law enforcement experience is desirable. Successful completion of a California Basic Law Enforcement Academy (dated within the preceding three (3) years) or P.O.S.T. recertification course (dated within the preceding three (3) years) is required at the time of application.

Note:

Candidates currently enrolled in a California Basic Law Enforcement Academy, with an expected graduation no later than June 2026, are eligible to apply. Submittal of documentation is required. See below for more information. Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. Police Officer candidates must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of appointment; must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law; must be able to successfully complete a thorough background investigation and successfully meet the job dimension criteria as recommended by P.O.S.T. Spanish bilingual skills are highly desirable. Incumbents must successfully complete the Vacaville Police Department Field Training Program as a condition of continued employment.
