Part-Time / Reserve / On-Call Position Summary Life University is seeking qualified and experienced Reserve Police Officers to support the Campus Police Department by providing on-call law enforcement services and additional coverage during peak periods, special events, emergencies, or staffing shortages . Reserve Officers play an important role in helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while supporting Life University's mission of Lasting Purpose and Student Success . Reserve Police Officers are not regularly scheduled employees and serve in an on-call capacity , working assignments as needed and approved by the Chief of Campus Police or designee. Key Responsibilities Provide on-call law enforcement services to supplement regular campus police staffing. Respond to calls for service , emergencies, alarms, and incidents occurring on university property. Patrol campus buildings, parking areas, residence halls, and grounds to ensure safety and security. Enforce state laws, local ordinances, and Life University policies . Assist with crowd control, traffic direction, and safety monitoring during campus events and activities. Conduct preliminary investigations of incidents, accidents, or suspicious activity. Prepare and submit incident reports and documentation in accordance with departmental procedures. Provide assistance and guidance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Support full-time officers during emergency response situations . Maintain familiarity with campus geography, safety protocols, and departmental procedures . Participate in required training and departmental briefings . Additional Information The On-Call Reserve Campus Safety Representative position is intended to provide supplemental safety staffing and does not guarantee a set number of hours. Assignments will be scheduled based on campus safety needs and employee availability . Life University values individuals who demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to fostering a safe campus community Minimum Qualifications Must be P.O.S.T. certified in the State of Georgia or eligible for certification. High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field preferred. Prior law enforcement experience strongly preferred. Ability to successfully pass a background investigation , including criminal history review. Valid Georgia driver's license with acceptable driving record. Ability to meet the physical requirements of law enforcement duties . Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, safety practices, and applicable laws . Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse campus community. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations . Ability to prepare accurate and timely incident and investigative reports . Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and community-oriented policing . Work Environment Work is performed both indoors and outdoors across the university campus. Duties may require standing, walking, driving, and responding to emergencies . Assignments may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or special events . This position is on-call and scheduled on an as-needed basis to provide additional departmental coverage. Additional Information Reserve Police Officers serve as supplemental law enforcement personnel and are not guaranteed regular hours. Scheduling is determined by departmental needs and officer availability.
