6,420 Position Details The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Countryside are now accepting applications to create a two year eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Countryside has no residency requirement. The City of Countryside Police Department serves a residential population of just over 6,000 residents and a large retail oriented business community in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. At full staffing, the department has 24 sworn police officers that work 12 hour shifts. The City of Countryside strongly supports the police department, heavily investing in training and equipping officers while they work out of a state of the art facility. The Countryside Police Department offers special assignment and training including, but not limited to, the following: Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (SSMCTF) Narcotics and Currency Interdiction Task Force (NARCINT) 5th District SWAT Team Evidence Technician Drone Pilot Car Seat Installer Traffic Crash Reconstruction Expert Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART) Bike Patrol Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Truck Enforcement Officer Pension over 100% funded as of May 2026 Cutting edge gym offered on-site

MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Age Requirements:
At least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age on the date of filing his or her application, unless otherwise exempt by statute.
Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Driver's License:
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Education:
Must have 60 hours accredited College/University courses. Education will be waived for candidates who have 2 years U.S. military service with an honorable discharge.
Character:
No felony convictions and be of good moral character.
POWER Test Card:
Must have a current and valid POWER Test Card dated within 12 months prior to application deadline (cards considered valid only issued 6/15/2025 - 6/15/2026).
