Starting (January 2026): $72,963 (Officers who meet qualifications with part-time status) Officers with at least one year of experience start between $79,798 (Step 1) and $95,025 (Step 5); Level of pay is based on experience

Please submit the following required documents: Signed employment form and authorization to release information A copy of your Birth Certificate or Certificate of Naturalization A copy of your High School Diploma or GED Certificate A copy of your Driver's License A copy of your U.S. Military DD-214 form, if applicable A copy of your certificate of completion of Illinois Basic Law Enforcement Academy Training Must have at least 12 months, uninterrupted service, in good standing, within the last 36-months in a full-time capacity, or at least 24-months of consistent service, in good standing, in a part-time capacity, with one or more recognized Illinois police agencies, and who has obtained certification through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
