13,400 Position Details Lateral Police Officer Opportunities Join a progressive and community-oriented police department committed to professional development, officer wellness, and public service. We are seeking qualified lateral police officers who are looking to continue their law enforcement careers in a supportive and rewarding environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must: Be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident authorized to work in the United States Possess a valid state-issued driver's license Have a minimum of two (2) years of law enforcement experience and currently be employed by a police department in good standing Be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent Have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college, university, or junior college prior to appointment (official transcripts required during the background investigation) Possess a valid FOID card or be eligible to obtain one Have no felony convictions; certain misdemeanor convictions or serious traffic offenses may also disqualify applicants from consideration
Selection Process:
Qualified candidates must successfully complete the following: Oral interview Comprehensive background investigation, including full disclosure of all prior employment matters, agreements, and sealed personnel files Psychological evaluation Polygraph examination Medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening Become part of a professional organization that values integrity, teamwork, and service to the community while providing opportunities for career growth and specialized training.
