Position Details Lateral Police Officer Opportunities

We are seeking qualified lateral police officers who are looking to continue their law enforcement careers in a supportive and rewarding environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must:
Be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident authorized to work in the United States
Possess a valid state-issued driver's license
Have a minimum of two (2) years of law enforcement experience and currently be employed by a police department in good standing
Be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB)
Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent
Have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college, university, or junior college prior to appointment (official transcripts required during the background investigation)
Possess a valid FOID card or be eligible to obtain one
Have no felony convictions; certain misdemeanor convictions or serious traffic offenses may also disqualify applicants from consideration
Selection Process:
Qualified candidates must successfully complete the following:
Oral interview
Comprehensive background investigation, including full disclosure of all prior employment matters, agreements, and sealed personnel files
Psychological evaluation
Polygraph examination
Medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening
