Have a High School Diploma (or its equivalent). Possess a valid Illinois Driver's License. Be of good moral character and be able to perform all the duties and tasks assigned to a North Aurora Police Officer. Not have been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. Be free from the use of illegal drugs.
IF YOU ARE NOT 21 YEARS OF AGE
Must be at least twenty (20) years of age and have successfully completed two (2) years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university in order to be eligible to take the initial examination for Patrol Officer. Any such applicant who is approved under this provision of the Act shall not have power of arrest or be permitted to carry firearms until reaching the age of twenty-one (21) years. Applicants must successfully pass: Written exam Power card must be obtained prior to first interview. (Not needed in hand on testing date.) Polygraph exam Drug screen Oral interview Background investigation Psychological exam The applicant also must meet the criteria established by Illinois Statutes and the North Aurora Police Commissioners. After a conditional job offer, but prior to actual employment, a candidate must successfully pass a medical exam and psychological exam, all in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
