Job Description

The City of Pekin Police Department is accepting applications to test for original appointment for future Police Officer vacancies. The City of Pekin is a vibrant community of approximately 31,000 residents served by a professional police department consisting of 57 sworn officers dedicated to public safety, community partnerships, and excellence in law enforcement. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid Driver's License Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment Must be under 35 years of age by the final eligibility list date unless exempt under Illinois Law Meet all Illinois Lw Enforcement Training and Standards Board Requirements Testing and Selection Process Testing will be held on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, and will include Written Examination, Illinois POWER Test, and an Oral Interview for successful candidates. Failure to complete any portion of the testing process will result in removal from consideration. Successful candidates will be required to complete the following: Background Investigation Polygraph Examination Psychological Evaluation Medical Examination Drug Screening All applications will be accepted through, but no later than, 4:00PM Friday, July 17th, 2026. All applications must include copies of birth certificate, High School Diploma or GED, valid Driver's License, DD-214 (if applicable). Testing will be held on Saturday, July 25th, 2026.
