SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER
(TITLE 32), GS-0083-8, you will serve as a first level supervisor and/or flight chief, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Security Forces Flight. Major Duties
  • This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Select or recommend selection of candides for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in considerion of skills and qualificions, mission requirements, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and diversity objectives. Appraise subordine workers performance ensuring consistency and equity in ring techniques. Identify employee developmental needs and provide or arrange for training (formal and on-the-job) to maintain and improve job performance. Discharge security responsibilities by ensuring educion and compliance with security directives for employees with access to classified or sensitive merial.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relionships with the base community.
Evalue reports by analyzing facts and performing approprie research and prepare detailed responses. Determine approprie recommendions for unresolved or questionable problems and perform follow-up. Perform and enforce the full range of police officer duties within a military facility. Wield full powers of apprehension and detention which entails carrying a firearm, opering Security Forces vehicles and equipment, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence and testifying in court as it pertains to enforcing regulions on a military installion. Direct and ensure thorough investigions of accidents, suspicious activities, and arrests, and promote community relions. Direct and supervise the dispch operion activities involving security force prols to scenes of crimes, accidents, nural disasters, and apprehensions. Direct and ensure th all individuals requesting access to the facility have the proper identificion credentials before entering. Respond to calls for emergency assistance to include traffic accidents, suicides, burglary, robbery, sex offenses, suspicious persons, castrophic events, scenes of crimes/nural disasters, and possibly murder, and enemy tacks, and make apprehensions. Interact with members of the public to determine their involvement in incidents to include interviewing, advising them of their rights, obtaining stements, and detaining or apprehending violors. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

The maximum entry age for DoD Law Enforcement is 37. The employee is required to properly carry, maintain, load, unload and fire various weapons. The employee will have resource protection (weapons and ammunition) responsibilities th could include the use of deadly force. Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent required to use firearms in performing duties. May be required to wear special protective clothing such as cos, boots, vests, respiror masks, and/or helmets. Must undergo initial and periodic job compibility assessments. AREA OF CONSIDERATION
The areas of considerion for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of considerion for this position all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of considerion all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of considerion all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of considerion applicants willing to become T32 Dual Stus Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of considerion will U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades :
Enlisted, minimum SSgt, may not exceed rank of MSgt.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: GS-08 Level
  • MUST possess specialized experience which includes least 1-year the lower-level GS-06 knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulions, law enforcement operions, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing or protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other nural resource or recreional environments; in performing criminal investigive duties; or in other work th provided the required knowledge and skills.
SUPERVISORY SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
MUST possessexperience in managing the function of the work to be performed; experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
SELECTIVE FACTORS
No history of excessive alcohol use or arrested in the past two years for two or more alcohol reled incidents regardless of disposition, except when proven not guilty. No more than one active wage garnishment for delinquency. No more than two delinquent charge off/collection (>= 30 days) payments within last two years. Must not have used, distributed, or manufactured illicit narcotics or been arrested for any narcotics use, distribution or manufacturing. Have not sniffed or used a substance to obtain an altered consciousness ste from aerosol spray, lighter fluid, petro chemical, adhesives, Freon, or any other chemical for a purpose not intended for use. Qualified to bear firearms according to AFI 31-117, "Arming and Use of Force by Air Force Personnel". No acts of larceny, wrongful appropriion, robbery, burglary, housebreaking, misconduct in comb defined in UCMJ Articles 99-106, or any act th harmed or had the potential to harm the physical safety or well-being of animals to include Military Working Dogs. Never convicted by a civilian court of a Cegory One, Two, or Three offense, nor exceeded the accepted number of Cegory Four offenses. The Cegory Three and Four traffic offenses alone are not disqualifying.
Note:
Cegories of offenses are described and listed in AFI 36-2002, "Regular Air Force and Special Cegory Accessions, Uniform Guide List of Typical Offenses". No documented record of gang affiliion. No fear of working around nuclear weapons or nuclear components. Position requires routine access to Secret merial; and, a current Nional Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) is required. Must maintain an Air Force Network License.
MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for this series, a current physical and a cleared drug test are mandory. Normal color vision and normal depth perception are required, as defined by current Air Force Medical Examinions and Standards Instructions Distance visual acuity correctable to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. No speech disorder or noticeable communicion deficiency as defined in
AFI 48-123.
No diagnosed fear of acrophobia (fear of heights) or confined spaces. To qualify for this series, must confirm there is no history of emotional instability, personality disorder, or other unresolved mental health problems. No record of sleep disorders to include, but not limited to, sleep apneas, insomnias, hyper-somnias, narcolepsy, or restless leg syndrome. No current diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or Perceptual/Learning Disorder(s); and prescribed medicion(s) to tre these disorders in the last 12 months. No history of mood disorders including bipolar disorder, major depression, dysthymia, or depression not otherwise specified. No recorded evidence of personality disorder sustained or untreable emotional instability to include depression, or suicidal behavior to include tempts, gestures, ideions, thres, or history of self-mutilion. Individuals who had their spleens removed are not eligible for assignment to the military working dog program or any canine functions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment.
