IU POLICE DEPARTMENT
(UA-PD-IUSBA) Department Information Indiana University (IU) Public Safety pursues IU's commitment to providing the greatest degree of safety for all members of the IU community, consistent with the university's mission and environment, applicable legal and professional standards, and available resources. IU Public Safety directly oversees the IU Police Department, University Environmental Health and Safety, and Emergency Management and Continuity with a team of approximately 300 dedicated staff on a 24/7/365 operational basis across all campuses. Job Summary Completes all university and Indiana state law required training and receive necessary certifications to independently perform the duties and responsibilities of Patrol Officer- Intermediate.
EDUCATION
Required High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire. Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) eligible upon date of hire. Complete all required annual law enforcement training and attain required certifications as prescribed by Indiana state law and the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board (ILETB) within 1 year from date of hire. Attain university required certifications in CPR, AED, Blood Borne Pathogens, IDACS, etc, within 1 year from date of hire Attain firearms qualification within 1 year from date of hire. Working Conditions / Demands The role frequently requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and communicate effectively. The role requires the ability to lift and/or move more than 165 pounds.
