Job Description

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure/Certification:
Valid, unrestricted Indiana drivers license. Eligible for Indiana handgun permit. Ability to meet all requirements for Hospital Police Officer certification as outlined in
I.C. 16-18-4-4.
Successful completion of firearms proficiency testing with semi-annual requalification.
Experience:
Must be 21 years as of the date of graduation from the academy. Successful completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Pre-Basic Training (40 hours) unless applicant has previous qualifying academy completion.
Mental/Physical Effort:
The individual in this position must be physically, emotionally, and mentally capable of performing the duties of a sworn police officer without impairment. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Officers must be prepared to operate in high-stress, emergency situations and potentially life-threatening environments. Duties may involve exposure to dangerous individuals, firearms, bodily fluids, loud noise, and severe weather conditions. Physical requirements include running, walking, crawling, climbing, stooping, lifting, prolonged sitting, and maintaining sustained postures.
