POSITION DESCRIPTION
Responsible for law enforcement work involving patrolling, security check for buildings, and guarding sensitive and high value property on a Military Installation.
Additionally responsible for:
Enforcing law and regulations, directing traffic, and investigation of accidents. Incumbent will have contact with military personnel, civilian employees and visitors. Duties must be performed professionally and tactfully. Minimum supervision is received, and independent judgment and discretion must be exercised when faced with emergencies. Be able to use and carry firearms. Ability to prepare effective reports. Must be able to work various hours and shifts. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Obtain a minimum score of 96 on the P.O.S.T. firearms course and minimum score of 80 on the Police rifle course. A written test and performance evaluation on defensive tactics with a minimum score of 80%. Issuing traffic citations. Other duties as assigned or as described in job description. Complete all mandatory training annually (Ethics, Defensive Driving, Blood Bourne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment, Anti-Terrorism and Suicide Prevention) Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet physical requirements of the Physical Agility Test (P.A.T.) perform functions of the position. Must pass all requirements of the J34 Pre-Academy. Must maintain a working knowledge of Microsoft programs. Must be able to manage high stress situations. Must be able to manage and defuse violent encounters. Must maintain all equipment in acceptable standards. Must act with firmness and sufficient energy to perform daily duties. Must be able to manage potentially dangerous conflict alone for several minutes.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Driver's License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate. Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations for extended hours over an extended period of time. Other periodic travel may be required. Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position. Must attend/complete all Louisiana Military Department (LMD) annual training and other training required for the position. Must adhere to the Code of Ethics and foster a Sexual Harassment-Free Environment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
By submitting an application for employment with the Military Department, the applicant agrees to the following conditions of employment: All LMD positions require in-office attendance. This is not a remote position. Salary is paid by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) / Direct Deposit Only. A checking or savings account is required for employment. For positions requiring computer/email access selected applicant must qualify to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) Card and maintain eligibility. LMD is a substance abuse and drug free workplace. The selected applicant must pass a pre-employment background investigation and pre-employment drug test. Thereafter, all employees are subject to random drug testing. To become an employee of the LMD you must be a current member of the Louisiana National Guard or eligible for membership in the Louisiana State Guard. The selected applicant must pass a pre-employment criminal background investigation prior to employment.
