The Delgado Community College Police Department is seeking a Police Officer 2 to join our team. Minimum Qualifications One year of law enforcement experience.EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Patrols campus areas on foot and in vehicles to maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Responds promptly to calls for assistance, emergencies, suspicious activity, and safety concerns. Enforces state laws, traffic regulations, and college policies, including issuing warnings and citations when appropriate. Conducts investigations of incidents, accidents, and reported criminal activity, including gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Prepares accurate reports and documentation related to incidents, investigations, and daily activities. Provides security services such as building and parking lot checks, classroom security, and safety escorts upon request. Assists individuals in emergency situations by rendering first aid and coordinating medical or emergency response services. Monitors campus traffic and promotes safe driving practices throughout campus property. Communicates and coordinates with dispatchers, emergency personnel, and outside law enforcement agencies as needed.Position-Specific Details:
