Police Officer 3

LSU Shreveport is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer 3 in the University Police Department . This role involves performing advanced law enforcement duties and supporting supervisory functions to help ensure the safety and security of the campus community. We are looking for a highly skilled, dependable professional with strong judgment, leadership abilities, and a commitment to public safety and community-oriented policing. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

The ability to assess options, weigh risks, and make sound decisions using available information and logical reasoning.

The ability to maintain a safe work environment by following established safety rules, procedures, and practices. Two years of law enforcement experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Job Duties:

All activities, responses, and duties performed by any Certified Louisiana Police Officer. These could include and are not limited to patrol, investigations, court proceedings, evidence collection, mandatory departmental training, as well as the specific academic building and apartment building(s) assigned for direct oversight. Additionally, these may require the completion of these tasks to be done outside of the established work schedule for activities such as large outdoor events, or sports competitions. Efforts applied to Department-supported projects relating to Community Engagement. As with other tasks, these may have to be completed outside of the established work schedule. Examples of these might be "National Night Out", self-defense courses offered to the campus and/or community. Essential Employee Response Notification - The understanding that all individuals are classified as an essential employee and should expect to work at some point during a weather-related event, an emergency on campus, or a pandemic.
